W. W. AUport Walter Webb Allport was a tailors apprentice and a closestudent. He studied medicine and later dentistry with Westcott, and became one of the experts of his day,ranking with Varney, Atkinson Corydon, Palmer and McKel-lops. He located in Chicago in 1854, and enjoyed a most lucra-tive practice. He was a microscopical investigator and instru-mental in organizing the Chicago Microscopical Club.
