Very conspicuous in autumn and winter, when loaded with scarlet seed pods, from vrhich the orange colored berries hang on slender threads; in this, the Amei'ican species, the branches are quad- rangular. cts. E. Europeus (European Burning Bush, Strawberry Tree). This is darker and more showy than the American.
