View of Kathmandu taken in October 2005 from the hill resort of Hattiban to the south of the valley. Here the urban sprawl that is modern Kathmandu can be seen. Buildings are concrete boxes walled in with locally made bricks. Like many asian cities Kathmandu suffers from dramatic expansion that the infrastructure struggles to support. Pollution is bad in terms of air quality and sewerage. The use of a long lens gives a flattened perspective.
