Suddenlythe movement develop-ed great proportions,grace and faith increasing until some fifteen ormore churches were led to open their doors andhold revival services. This was in the monthof June. Next, the theatres threw their doorswide open on Sunday nights, and all conditionsof society furnished the vast audiences thatcrowded in. The Spirit reached many heartsat that time, and a member of the family of Gov-ernor Porter was among the number. I re-member that at the Roberts Park Church (ofwhich Rev. Dr. S. M. Vernon was pastor),whereI was preaching, many of the highest State offi-cials were visibly touched, and Edward Porter,the son of the Governor, was among the con-verts.
