Paula Scamparini Installation. From the artistic residency of Paula Scamparini in Carpe Diem, a work in an installation format is presented, which consists of a research centered on the reflexes of Portuguese colonization in contemporary Brazilian society from school books used in the public schools of "Fundamental Education" in Brazil. The work has two moments. A visual moment, where we can observe the images taken from these books on tiles, and divided into themes such as maritime scenes, natives, slavery, Jesuit missions, colonial daily life, maps, portraits and black resistance, and a second moment, Which a Tukano Indian tells a story. Here, a text by Clarisse Meireles contextualizes the story told by the Indian. The artist invites the observer to walk over the tiles as a symbolic act. The school books from which the images were taken are available for viewing at the Carpe Diem library. In the store are for purchase a series of tiles belonging to this series.
