Hornblende crystals. This mineral contains calcium, sodium, magnesium, iron and aluminium in a silicate matrix. It is a member of the amphibole group of minerals, and is found in igneous and metamorphic rocks. The area here is less than half a centimetre wide. Specimen found in Wolkenburg, Germany.
