This habit aflbrds the hunter m easy means of killing them, for if the sentinel be killed outright the next takes his jilace, after pushing out the dead body, and this may go on until the last of the herd is killed, dentition of the Peccary differs from that of the True Hogs in the smaller number of teeth, which are thirty-eight, instead of forty-four, in number, the u]iper incisors being reduced to four, and the premolars in the upper and lower jaws being six instead of eight.
