Recruits with Charlie Company, 1st Recruit Training Battalion, make their phone calls home during receiving at Marine Corps Recruit Depot San Diego, Jan. 8. The next time recruits will be able to contact their loved ones will be by postal mail. Their initial letter home should be expected within two to three weeks upon arrival. Annually, more than 17,000 males recruited from the Western Recruiting Region are trained at MCRD San Diego. Charlie Company is scheduled to graduate April 6.
