Bilingual bus stop sign - French and English.

Vanuatu, then known as New Hebrides, was a unusual colony, being ruled over by both the UK and France at the same time. The consequences are still felt today; many functions are carried out in either French, English or both. Interestingly, Port Vila no longer has a bus service that uses stops; buses currently operate more like share taxis: there are no routes, they stop anywhere, and they go to wherever their passengers want to go.
