The second largest construction company Carillon based in Wolverhampton which employed 43,000 people including 20,000 in the UK has collpased and went into liquidation on Monday 15th January 2018 and the company is mired in £ debt with a vast pensions deficit. The government and British Transport secretary Chris Grayling have been criticised for awarding contracts to HS2 rail link and ordered an investigation into Carillion directors.
