This frames the asterism called the False Cross, made of stars in Vela at top and Carina at right. The brightest star is the orange star Avior or Epsilon Carinae at lower right. To the right of it is the large naked-eye star cluster NGC 2516, called the Southern Beehive. At top above the star Delta Velorum is the large but sparse star cluster IC 2391, called the Omicron Velorum Cluster after its brightest star. At far left near the orange star N Velorum is the small star cluster IC 2488. At top are the easternmost magenta tendrils of the vast Gum Nebula. This is a stack iof 10 x 2 minute exposures with the Canon RF135mm lens at f/2 on the Canon Ra at ISO 800. The lens had an URTH 82mm Night broadband filter on it. Tracked but not guided on the Astro-Physics AP400 mount, from Australia in March 2024 on a night dedicated to shooting 135mm telephoto lens fields along the Milky Way.
