BANGOR, Wash. (July 12, 2017) Cmdr. James Hurt, left, from Excelsior Springs, Missouri, relieves Cmdr. Brian Freck, right, from Vienna, Virginia, as commanding officer during a change of command ceremony for the Gold crew of the Ohio-class ballistic missile submarine USS Kentucky (SSBN 737). Kentucky is one of eight Ohio-class Trident ballistic missile submarines stationed at Naval Base Kitsap-Bangor, providing the most survivable leg of the nation's strategic deterrent forces.
