He was a member of the New Hampshire legislature for several years andintroduced and carried through that body a bill giving to schools free text-books,this state being the first in the Union to adopt such a measure. GEORGE W. HAVEN. George Wallace Haven died at Portsmouth August 7 at the age of 88 was for many years a director of the National bank and had alsoserved as trustee of the New Hampshire Insane Asylum.
