Irregularlesser sinuses are by no means uncommon, and they form,sometimes, communications through a great extent of the lon-gitudinal sinus ; or again it will be found that the lon-gitudinal sinus deviates considerably, in some subjects, fromthe straight line, taking a curve or circle, generally behind thefontanelle ; or it sends ofT branches, which again vmite withit; or it is fairly divided. In all these cases the chords orfasciculi of the dura mater stretch out over the sinuses, andprotect them from compression. Instead
