There is no better example of painstaking work in theexhibition than that to which Mr. Douglas treats us inAn Old Landmark, nS, a study of forest trees. The colour-ing is good, and the difficulties of light and shade, anddistance, have been most effectually overcome. The pic-ture is somewhat after the Belgian or French school.
