Hawaiian Monk Seals were found either hauled out on the beaches or swimming in the surrounding waters. At night, and sometimes during the day, they hauled out into the Scaevola where they slept. They were more common along the lagoon beach than the ocean beach. Several seals that appeared to have been bitten by sharks were found.
