Piotr Suchenia from Poland won the Arctic Marathon in Longyearben, Svalbard Norway in a time of 2hrs, 52 minutes and 36 seconds. the first woman was Mari Krakemo from Norway with a time of 3hrs, 3 minutes and 57 seconds just 11 seconds behind the winnner and in 4th place overall. The Svalbard Marathon is run at 78 degrees north. Outrider with rifles and on quad bikes rode alongside the runners to protect them from polar bears.
