Philadelpliia. This new variety is a cross between the Crimson Rambler and the Hybrid Perpetual Rose, Victor Hugo. It originated with the successful hybridizer, Dr. Van Fleet, who says that he con- siders it the best and most valuable new rose he has yet pro- duced. The Philadelphia Crimson Rambler differs from the old variety in being of a deeper, brighter and more intense color and per- fectly double to the centre, and while it is not expected to super- cede the old favorite Crimson Rambler, it will prove a valuable addition to our list of climbing roses. 2i^-inch pot plants, $ per dozen ; per 100. This beautiful Hybrid Tea Rose is a fine grower, having dark leathery foliage and the good habit of throwing up numerous heavy canes, each one crowned by a glorious flower of large size composed of large petals ; the outer petals are of about the color of Perle des Jar- dines, the inner petals a deep shade of orange ; it is a constant bloomer opening its buds freely, a .strong healthy grower not at all subject to mildew.
