Here he entered the employ as superintendent of Jessup,Kennedy & Company, manufacturers of railway supplies, continuingwith their successors, Crerar, Adams & Company, and later goingwith the outgrowth of this concern, the Adams & Westlake held the position of superintendent for twenty-one years, from1864 to 1885. In 1881 Mr. Clark incorporated the Myers Manufacturing Com-pany for the manufacture of Jewel gasoline vapor stoves, changingthe corporate name in 1886 to George M. Clark & Company. Gasstoves and appliances were added to the product and as the businessexpanded and more room was needed, the factory was removed, in1897, to Harvey, Illinois.
