The machine was downon the grade line on 12 ft. portable track sections,traveling over the trestle on temporary stringers ascompleted. The} averaged 8 to 9-12 ft. bents, or100 ft. of completed trestle per day. The piles wereall provided from dead heads and sinkers whichthe American fished out of the river. They used70 lb. steel for temporary stringers, underneathregular ties, and 70 lb. steel to pass the materialcars over to build up the grade, pulling the temporarysteel stringers out and lining up the track when fillreached sub-gra
