The Georgian architecture of Pulteney Bridge, designed by Robert Adam in palladian style, spans the River Avon in the City of Bath. Somerset, England.
Pulteney Bridge which crosses the River Avon in Bath was designed by Robert Adam and construction was completed in 1773. Adam had visited both Florence and Venice and would have been familiar with the Ponte di Rialto and the Ponte Vecchio, but Adam’s design more closely followed Andrea Palladio’s rejected ideas for the Rialto bridge. Pulteney Bridge is one of only four bridges in the world with shops across the full span on both sides.
