Mountain guide under a glacier. Mountain guide standing next to a wall of glacial ice under a glacier. The blue colour of the ice is due to the weight of the glacier compressing the ice and causing air bubbles to be squeezed out. Within the ice are rock fragments (dark) that were eroded from the underlying surface by the glacier and trapped as the ice melted and refroze. Photographed in Iceland.
