Knee wound. Cut (lacerated) knee of a 19-year-old man, two weeks after being in a road traffic accident (RTA). The wound was held to together by stitches (sutures). Sutures are designed to help an injury heal by bringing together the two sides of a wound to minimize scar formation and prevent blood from leaking. They are usually removed a few weeks after insertion (seen here).
