Chromosome analysis. Researchers analysing human chromosomes using a light microscope and FISH (fluorescence in-situ hybridisation). FISH is a technique that highlights particular genes or chromosomes to check for abnormalities, such as chromosomal pieces that have broken off one chromosome and attached themselves to another. Chromosomes contain genes, sections of DNA (deoxyribonucleic acid) that encode how every cell in the body works. Photographed at Genopole, Evry, France.
