He was too young to be aware,from personal knowledge, but can speakdefinitely on the following points: His deceased brother was piesent twiceat the burying of Governor Semple, the lasttime being when the bodies were removedfrom beside Fort Douglas to St. Johnsohurchyard. Peter Fidler did build a fort nearer themain river than the present one, in thevicinity of Broadway, before 18*26, and heknows his father worked for Fidlei. THE LATE ROBERT MACBETH. Mr. Robert Macbeth was born in Suther-landshire, Scotland, in 1801. He came outto the Red River with his parents about1815, as colonists to the Selkirk was a successful trader, and for manyyears a member of the Council of Assini-boine under the Hudsons Bay Companysadministration, as well as a magistrate. Hewas married to Mary Maclean, whom hesurvived 23 years. He died on the 20thAugust, 1880, leaving a family of eight tomorn his death : Adam, Alexander, Rob-ert, John and Roderick, and Mrs. AngusHenderson, Mrs. John McKay and Mills. Illl c; JOHN POLSON, OF KILDONAN, MAN. I was born in 1810 01 thereabouts, inKildonan, Sootl&nd, and came out withLord Selkirks settlers in 1815. I remember well the seven oak treeswhich gave the name to the locality, whereGovernor Semple and his men were killedby the half breeds, in l^Hi, and have many were buried in one large grave, on theafterwards removed to St. Johns church-yard.
