On the otherhand, they may be so pronounced thateven at full inspiration the displacementof the diaphragm and mediastinal struc-tures plainly indicate obstructive emphy-sema on the affected side. The mostimportant point to remember is that thesigns are accentuated most at the end ofexpiration—a point which was not madeclear in our former report— and no exam-ination is complete without instantaneousroentgenograms at both full inspirationand the end of expiration (Fig. 2, a, b, c).We have reasons to believe that thesesiijns may be elicited very soon after theforeign body lodges.
