SARAH LEMEN. Mrs. Sarah Lemen, nee Begole, Avas born in County, Illinois, October 24, 1826. She wasunited in marriage with Gideon S. Lemen, of County, Illinois, January 23, 1851. Of thisunion there were born three children, Joshua, Frank-lin B. and Mary Laurene. Mrs. Sarah Lemen pro-fessed a hope in Christ, and was baptized February,1841. She united with the Bethel Baptist Church,where she labored faithfully for fifty-six years—overa half century—for the Master, living an earnest anddevoted Christian life. She was a kind, loving andself-sacrificing wife and mother. She was an obligingneighbor, sympathizing with and helping those whosuffered affliction. She fell asleep in Jesus,Thursday morning, March 18, 1897, being seventyyears, four months and twenty-four days old. We miss thy kind and willing hand, Thy fond and earnest care ;Our home is dark without thee, We miss thee everywhere. Mrs. Lemen was of a large and respected family,being a daughter of Joshua and Mary Begole. Onesister, Cynthia C, and two brothers, Franklin andFrancis, also married into the Lemen family. TheBegole family are of French descent, emigrating fromFrance during the close of the seventeenth were Huguenots, and were expelled from therealm as a result of the revocation of the celebratededict of Nantes about the year 1685, whence theysettled in America. 2ii—FRANK B.
