Ovarian tumour. Light micrograph of a wolffian adnexal tumour. Female adnexal tumors of wolffian origin are rare neoplasms believed to originate from mesonephric (embryonic secretory organ) remnants. Rarity and variable location make the diagnosis difficult. Although most cases follow a benign (non-cancerous) clinical course, approximately 10 per cent of them either recur or metastasise and are thought to be resistant to chemoradiation therapy. Tumours show variable morphology. Magnification: x 150 when printed at 10 centimetres wide.
