Hecompared the microscopic sections of acarcinoma that had been rayed forthree weeks with those of the same tu-mor which had not been rayed. In therayed specimen small groups of carci-noma cells were surrounded by con-nective tissue. The individual cell waslarger and flat and on account of thelarge amount of protoplasm in each cell,the entire specimen seemed much large magnification it seemed edema-tous and did not take the stain verydeeply so that the finer structures ofthe cell were not clear while a numberof other cells were full of vacuoles andstained faintly.
