Hundreds of London's Turkish community turned up in Trafalgar Square for an impromptu demonstration after 14 year-old Birkin Elvan died 296 days after being shot in the head by a police teargas cannister as he went shopping for bread during the Gezi Square riots in summer 2013. Similar spontaneous demonstrations have been held in other cities with major protests in Istanbbul.
