Magellanic Clouds over the pampas. The Magellanic Clouds are two nearby dwarf galaxies visible from the southern hemisphere. At centre left is the Small Magellanic Cloud (SMC). At upper right is the Large Magellanic Cloud (LMC). The faint green colour is due to airglow, the natural glow of the atmosphere. Photographed in March from the pampas (grasslands) near Punta Piedras, Argentina.
