Before we had advanced farenough from Fortress Monroe tosee the enemy. General Grahamwas relieved from duty and Gen-/(•ral Wessels, also of the regulararmy, put in command of theBrigade. General Wessels was ina short time succeeded by an-other regular ollficer, GeneralAbercrombie, who was with usat Fair Oaks, and retained the command until after the second battleof Bull Run, fought by General Pope.
