He represented Ward 7in the Common Council from 1879 to1883 inclusive, and in the Legislaturein 1883 and 1884. While serving hissecond term he resigned in February,1884, having been elected water regis-trar to succeed J. Stewart in the Common Council was a member of the Com-mittees on Water, Street Lighting, andClaims, and was conversant with theaffairs of the water office when first. elected to the place he now holds.
