He was a merchant and manufacturer. It was his enterprisewhich founded the village of Brigham, Que., which was named forhim. He was one of the organizers of the Eastern TownshipBank and a director of the same. The Southeastern Railway wasalso organized in part by Mr. Brigham, and was afterward acquiredby the Canadian Pacific Railway. He gave the right of way overhis property to the Southeastern Ry. and built the station andfreight house. He owned a large tannery and store in Brigham,and built the Congregational church and parsonage, and gave themtogether with the burial ground, to that society, and also provided. Waldo Brigham, of Hyde Park, Vt. (538) SEVENTH GENERATION 399 for the maintenance of the property after his decease. He is in-terred in this cemetery with his wife. After the death of hiswidow, his residence was converted into a grammar school for Brigham had a brilliant mind and unusual gifts.
