Epitome: Yearbook 1891 . The distinguishing points in recommendation of this gold separator are itsconvenience of manipulation, economy of running, and simple construction. Directions for Working.—Place sand containing gold in hopper. In firsttrough it is reduced to liquid by fine sprays of concentrated emulsion ofalcohol and mercury issuing from jets. It is heated in second trough byalcohol lamps, which drive off Hg. (Wooden troughs are renewed whenburned out.) The mass then passes through coils in cold bath, whence bygravity to separator proper, which makes 111, revolutions per second.

Lockwood with Mr. Fl—rs lateral thrust-speedindicator, dynamometer attachment.) The sand is automatically run intoone-pound boxes and used by birds, grocers, etc. The gold falls from spoutupon floor, whence it is removed by hand. In the first test of this separator M.
