Baden: A 1821 pattern shako for privates, of the Leib Grenadier Regiment. Body of black felt, with a leather top, leather reinforcements and front peak. Flat chinscales secured to rosette side bosses bearing a stamped grenade ornament. Cords of white wool, a long plume (a later addition?). A plate showing the House Order of Loyalty, and a (replacement) field badge in yellow and red. Original canvas liner and sweatband showing distinct signs of ageing.
