One hundred Romanians and their supporters staged a protest near the Romanian embassy in London against plans for gold mining using the cyanide leaching process in the Rosia Montana area of Transylvania. They are concerned about the process causing cyanide to infiltrate the groundwater and eventually to pollute the River Danube and the Black Sea. Previously Romania has had to compensate Hungary for similar pollution.
