Uppsala Konsert & Kongress rises eight stories into the air on Vaksala Square in central Uppsala. The magnificent character of the building blends with the other historical buildings in the city. The architectural language is modern and contemporary. The exterior of Uppsala Konsert & Kongress is constructed of a mirrored metal-clad façade and angled metal sheets reminiscent of crystal and is the winning design entry submitted by Henning Tegnestue, appropriately titled, “The Crystal”. Uppsala Konsert & Kongress was designed by Copenhagen-based architectural firm, Henning Larsen Tegnestue and was the winning contribution in the architectural competition that was launched and run during the summer of 2002.
