The river of lava flows downhill through agricultural lots in Kapoho, Puna District, Hawaii Island ( the Big Island ), Hawaiian Islands, ; properties upwind of the river of lava remain lush and verdant, while vegetation on downwind lots on the other side of the river has been killed by the toxic fumes released by the lava.
