. English: The funeral of Iskandar, from a Khamseh of Nizami. Ascribed to Salim Quli. Mughal India, c. 1610 Unlike earlier Persian and Mughal versions of Iskandar's death and burial, this illustration presents the episode soberly. Pallbearers carry his coffin draped with brocaded silk and his turban at one end. In Nizami's version Iskandar fell ill and died near Babylon. Because he believed he had been poisoned, no antidotes could revive him. circa 1620. Made by Salím Quli 200 Funeral of Iskander
