A courtly hunting hanger, from the reign of Karl Theodor Prince-Elector, Count Palatine and Duke of Bavaria Double-edged blade (patina and stains) with gilt etchings of hunting designs and remnants of the original bluing. The inscription "Hirsch und Forst Gerecht" is etched on the base of the blade. Chiselled brass hilt with lion heads on the quillons and pommel. The crowned cipher "CT" on the rocaille-decorated, cambered guard plate. Beaded stag horn grip. Leather-covered, damaged wooden scabbard with brass mountings and frog stud. Length cm. Karl Theodor,
