Photojournalism from UKuncut's Block the Bridgedemo at Westminster Bridge in London against the government's NHS reform bill
I covered UKuncut's action on Westminster Bridge, Sunday 9th October 2011. Thousands of activists and protests gathered to occupy the bridge and oppose government NHS reform plans, which will be voted on in the House of Lords shortly. A general assembly was held and plans to occupy the London Stock Exchange were also discussed. Lots of fake blood, a percussion band and a few comedians. The day was largely peaceful. There were a few scuffles and a kettle on Vauxhall Bridge, after anarchists attempted to stage a protest in Parliament Square by crossing the bridge.
