Great Hall at Stirling Castle in the early morning sun

Great Hall at Stirling Castle, built by James IV and finished in 1503. The exterior is finished in Royal Gold harling, a lime wash as it would have looked in the 1500's. The interior was extensively renovated, taking 35 years, with a new ceiling of hammerbeam oak from 350 trees. It was formally opened by Queen Elizabeth on 30th November, 1999.
