Any tar or other impurity that may still re-main in the gas is removed by passing itthrough a specially constructed fan and finallythrough a sawdust scrubber. The plant is en-tirely automatic in operation, being fitted witha governor, which, in conjunction with theblower, accurately controls the production ofthe gas as it is required. The coal is fed intothe bunkers by a bucket elevator and screwconveyor capable of dealing with 5 tons ofcoal per hour. The steam required for theoperation of the
