Picture by Roger Bamber 11 September 2005 Sothebys are selling a 1929 cast iron bandstand removed from the silver ring at Ascot racecourse in 2004 It is being offered for sale for pounds 100 000 in an auction of Garden Architectural and Fossil decoration at Sothebys Billingshurst West Sussex on 20 September 2005 The 30ft wide bandstand made by The Lion Foundry Kirkintilloch is reputed to have been the inspiration for Cecil Beaton s set designs for the hit film musical My Fair Lady
