K. W. McLellan is about to have the Bush street place of business renovated and redecorated. P. D. Mortensen, of the P:. W. McLellan states that the firm is now drying its stock of roses, etc. Some stock will arrive in the market early in September and the bulk of it in the middle of November. Some of the houses have been dried early, in order to bring them in early in the fall season. "There's a great shortage of good roses—so they say," chuckled J. A. Axell. The cause for Mr. Axell's amuse- ment lay in the fact that he was entirely surrounded by banks of Russell, Colum- bia. Ophelia and Ward roses, piled on tables and benches in his store. Brown & Kennedy report having been busy in all lines recently. Their tele- graph business, according to Charles Brown, has been exceptionally good. The proceeds of the recent florists' jiicnic have been set aside as the basis for an entertainment fund, which will be increased from time to time, accord- ing to Charles Brown, secretary of the picnic organization. Fred Howard, of Los Angeles, has been visiting this city on a combined business and jileasure trip. Ben Bakker, representing .\.. Hender- son & Co., Chicago, is calling on tlie trade here and reports that business is highly satisfactory with his firm. Plans have
