He was married in 1857 to Emily,daughter of Charles and Susan (Sprague) Copeland, ofRoxbury. JOHN SULLIVAN DWIGHT is known throughoutAmerica as an authority on the history and inter-pretation of music. His father was Mr. John Dwight,who was graduated from Harvard University in 1800,and his mother was Mary (Corey) Dwight. Mr. Dwightwas born in Boston, May 13, 1813, and most of his longand remarkable life has been spent in the city of hisnativity or near to it. In his own home, and in a pri-vate school near by, he received his early later entered thegrammar and Latinschools in Boston,where for five yearshe was the pupil ofB. A. Gould and Leverett, thenfamous 1828 he enteredHarvard Universityand was graduated inthe class of immediatelymatriculated in theHar\ ard DivinitySchool and was grad-uated in 1836.
