Coal-fired power station. This power station is primarily a thermal power station that burns coal to provide energy to produce steam and chilled water. It is the Milwaukee County Power Plant, in suburban Wisconsin, USA. The steam and chilled water is supplied to the Milwaukee Regional Medical Center. The power plant also has turbines that generate a small amount of electricity. The steam is produced by three coal boilers (chimneys seen, centre left) and a gas boiler. Twelve chiller units are used to produce chilled water. The steam and chilled water are then piped to the medical centre to heat and cool it. The power plant began operating in 1955.
