Inspectors who had previously been in charge of theselines, and who knew their peculiarities, were assignedto duty on the board. Each of these men, after a briefexperience, declared that he could control the lines muchbetter and more easily from the board than when sta-. The switchboard for the Rochester telephone systemis 15 ft. in length and is provided with ample filingdrawers for preserving dispatchers records.
