The kingfisher emerges. UK: THESE BEAUTIFUL images mark a momentous occasion for this blind photographer as he finally achieves his dream show, capturing a kingfisher. One photo shows a kingfisher in its iconic dive, shooting towards the water to catch a fish. Photographer Alex Ditch (26) from Sunderland is registered blind, his blindness being caused by a rare genetic disorder, Bardet Biedl Syndrome. Alex also has Retinitis Pigmentosa, a rare eye disease which affects the retina, causing cells to break down over time. This means that Alex could become fully blind at any moment. However, despite his disability, Alex was able to live his dream, achieving his shot at the Wildlife Photography Hide in Lincolnshire. ?I have no peripheral vision and night blindness,? said Alex. ?Lots of people find it hard to believe I am registered blind and ask, ?how do you do it?? ?The best way I can describe it to them is that I know my way around my camera, I know what kind of picture I am after, so I might just ask my mum to check my horizon is straight or what my ISO Alex previously attempted this shot back in 28th May, with photographer and wildlife enthusiast Dave Newman. However, on that occasion, despite getting some exceptional shots, they were unsuccessful. Dave discovered Alex?s story after watching his interview on BBC Winterwatch in January 2022, becoming inspired to help Alex achieve his goal. Now, following an amazing trip on 17th of July, the two have come away successful, having captured shots of the elusive kingfisher. ?After the episode had finished I decided to try and use the powers of social media and find the guy, because I wanted to offer him a day with me to try and make his dream come true and get close to the bird he truly loves,? said Dave. ?Making memories and giving back to someone who soon may not be able to achieve his passion is just something I had to do. ?To say I was ecstatic would be an understatement,? said Alex. ?To many, these could just be
